Police Prevent Vardenis Council Members from Entering Municipality Building
In Vardenis today, the newly elected mayor's inauguration ceremony is taking place; however, the police are preventing council members from entering the building. "We will not allow you to enter. You can hold the ceremony elsewhere," said a police official.
Lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan, representing the interests of the "Aharon Khachatryan" faction, responded: "The entry of the lawsuit concerning the mayoral election of December 30 into the administrative court does not provide grounds for the police to obstruct the elected council's access. As long as there is no legally binding court ruling that voids the election results, the new mayor is Aharon Khachatryan." Previously, we reported that the ruling party does not accept defeat.
