A Major Round of Negotiations with the United States Ahead, Lavrov Says

The main phase of negotiations on security guarantees between Russia and the United States will take place immediately after the New Year holidays. This was announced on Monday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an exclusive interview with Vladimir Solovyov on the ‘Soloviev Live’ YouTube channel.

“We will conduct a major round of security negotiations with the United States, which will take place immediately after the New Year holidays,” he stated.

The minister emphasized that the timing of the negotiations is important for Moscow, noting that they cannot be prolonged, despite the fact that the Russian Federation is not presenting ultimatums.

Lavrov also highlighted that Washington is the principal negotiator for security guarantees with Russia. It is noteworthy that on December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published drafts of agreements regarding security guarantees with the United States and security measures for the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
