Will You Stay in Armenia or Leave the Country? News Outlet Interviews Iva Marutyan
“Hraparak” newspaper reports: “While Yerevan Mayor Haik Marutyan faced a vote of no confidence from the city council, we reached out to Marutyan's wife, Czech national Iva Marutyan. We asked whether they would stay in Armenia or leave the country if Marutyan were to be dismissed. The former mayor's wife said, ‘Of course, we will definitely stay in Armenia; we will live here for our entire lives.’
We also inquired whether she has any concerns that the well-known authorities might initiate criminal cases against her husband, or begin persecutions. She responded, ‘We are a very strong family and we are ready for anything. We are not surprised by anything; we have seen so much in our lives. Our spirits are very high, and we are honest people and know that in the end, justice prevails. I, at least, have that belief; that is, we are not afraid of anything.’
We then asked whether this process was expected for them. If they are not surprised by anything, then perhaps this was also expected?”
