Agreement Reached with Azerbaijani President, Says Nikol Pashinyan
At the start of the government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement: "During the meeting with the Azerbaijani President in Brussels, we reaffirmed our decision and agreement on the construction of the railway from Yeraskh to Ordubad, Meghri, and Horadiz. This was recorded during a meeting that took place in Sochi under the mediation of the Russian President, and now, in Brussels, during the meeting mediated by the President of the EU Council, essentially, all this has been documented. The railway will operate in accordance with internationally accepted border and customs regulations, based on the principle of reciprocity, under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries. Armenia will gain access to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, while Azerbaijan will achieve rail connectivity with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. If we manage to initiate a certain dialogue with Turkey and achieve the opening of borders and communications, this project could achieve a much larger scale. You know that there is a railway from Yeraskh to Gyumri, and you are also aware that there is a railway from Gyumri to Kars as well," the Prime Minister stated.
According to him, an agreement has been reached with the Azerbaijani President to continue discussions on agenda issues, trying to form common views and approaches.
