Iran and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministers Discuss '3+3' Format
The foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation during which they discussed regional issues, according to the Iranian IRNA agency.
According to the Iranian foreign minister, Iran supports the '3+3' format involving three Caucasian countries and their three major neighbors: Russia, Iran, and Turkey, and believes that regional problems can be resolved with the help of intra-regional mechanisms.
"The foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation," the statement on the Iranian Foreign Ministry website said.
"In recent months, despite some misunderstandings, the parties have been active regarding those who are not pleased with the good relations between the two countries, which we have achieved thanks to the intelligence of officials from both sides, and now we can move towards further expansion of bilateral relations," Amir-Abdollahian stated.
