Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Situation in the South Caucasus
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian held a phone conversation in which they discussed the prospects for resuming negotiations on the nuclear agreement in Vienna, as well as the prevailing situation in the South Caucasus.
According to Armenpress, as reported by RIA Novosti, this was stated by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The negotiations concerning the reaffirmation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions will resume on November 29. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the phone call took place on November 6 at the initiative of the Iranian side.
Besides the issue of resuming negotiations on the nuclear agreement, the ministers also addressed the upcoming visit of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to Tehran and discussed several urgent bilateral and regional agenda items, including the situation in Afghanistan and its surroundings, as well as the situation in the South Caucasus.
