“Resolve the Recognition of Vaccines Immediately,” Vladimir Putin to G20 Countries
Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged the health ministers of the G20 countries to promptly resolve the issue of mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates. In a video address to the G20, Putin also expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of international recognition for the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, urging the summit in Rome to discuss the mutual recognition of vaccines and vaccination certificates as soon as possible.
Earlier this month, the Republic of South Africa refused to approve the Russian vaccine despite the need for vaccines in the country. Sputnik V has also not been authorized in the European Union and the United States.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, who, like Putin, participated via video address, also called for mutual recognition of vaccines.
