Turkey's Religious Affairs Head Calls Azan in Azerbaijani-occupied Shushi
The President of Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), Ali Erbaş, along with the chairman of the Council for the Study and Recitation of the Quran (Mushafları İnceleme ve Kıraat Kurulu), Hafız Şahin, visited the ancient Armenian fortress city of Shushi, which is under Azerbaijani occupation. Together, they called the azan at the Upper Mosque of Shushi, known as Gohar Agha Mosque.
The azan is a call to prayer made by a Muslim cleric from the minaret of a mosque, inviting believers to pray. Ali Erbaş shared this event on his Twitter page, expressing their fortune of being able to call the azan in the heart of Karabakh, specifically in Shushi.
“May Almighty Allah keep our region free from the blessings of Islam and the sounds of azan until the Day of Judgment,” he stated.
