Are They Planning to Disband the Defense Army? Spokesperson of Arayik Harutyunyan on the Rumors Being Spread
The statement made by Ashot Harutyunyan, a member of the Council of the NGO "Armenian Population Displaced from Shushi" regarding the alleged disbanding of the Defense Army by the President of the Republic of Artsakh at the request of the Azerbaijani side is entirely false and does not correspond to reality. This was stated by Lusine Avanesyan, spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, in response to a clarifying inquiry from a correspondent of Artsakhpress.
"The Defense Army of Artsakh has been and remains one of the main guarantors of the security of the Republic of Artsakh. Right now, our soldiers are standing their ground, facing the enemy. There is no question of disbanding the Defense Army on the agenda of the Artsakh authorities. All discussions regarding the Defense Army are related to reorganization, rearmament, modernization, and other issues. We have numerous tasks to accomplish in building our future, and the army plays a key role in this process," said Lusine Avanesyan.
