Possible Reduction in Ranks for Several High-Ranking Military Officials
The newspaper 'Iravunk' reports that serious reductions are expected in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia in the coming days. According to information obtained by 'Iravunk', several colonels have already been dismissed from their positions by their own request.
Our source indicates that the civil service as such will be abolished in the ministry in the near future. It is worth noting that several months ago, 'Iravunk' reported that the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces would merge with the Ministry of Defense, and this merger would lead to the removal of the concept of 'civil service', leaving only those with military ranks in the ministry.
Moreover, as a consequence of this change, several high-ranking military officials may see their ranks reduced. For instance, an officer could become a sergeant, while a colonel could be downgraded to a lieutenant colonel.
