Seyran Ohanyan Not Allowed to Travel to Russia by Anti-Corruption Committee
The Special Investigation Service has not allowed Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the "Armenia" faction and former Minister of Defense, to travel to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to participate in a session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on defense issues. This was announced in a statement by the "Armenia" coalition.
“It is notable that a restrictive measure has been applied against Seyran Ohanyan within the framework of a criminal prosecution that has surpassed the statute of limitations, which is already a mockery of the law. In these difficult conditions for the country, the repeated violation of the right to immunity of opposition parliamentarians Seyran Ohanyan and Armen Gevorgyan, who are simply prohibited from representing Armenia in international organizations, further confirms the erosion of democracy in our country,” the statement reads.
“It is unclear whose or which country's interests such investigators serve in the context of the importance of working with the CSTO and the foreign policy of these authorities, which has produced no results and only creates problems,” it continues.
