Greece Strengthens Border Control with Turkey, Deploying Over 1000 Border Guards
Greece is set to increase the number of border guards along its frontier with Turkey in response to the influx of illegal migrants from Afghanistan. This was reported by ekathimerini.com. Over the coming months, an additional 250 officers will join the existing force of 1500 border guards, marking an increase of 1000 compared to last year. Approximately 800 additional border guards will be hired to work at airports and in areas close to the Turkish-Greek border. Officials explain that this increase is partially a response to the Taliban's takeover of power in Afghanistan.
