Turkey Closes All Checkpoints for Iranian Trucks
Turkey has closed all its checkpoints for Iranian trucks. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the head of the Iranian Association for Trade Development, Ozjan Alash.
"Turkey's decision to close border checkpoints to Iranian trucks followed the ban on Turkish trucks entering Iran," said Alash. He noted that this move has completely halted trade between Iran and Turkey due to the tense situation along the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
According to him, the situation may adversely affect trade relations between Tehran and Ankara. In recent days, tensions have increased between Tehran and Baku. Iranian authorities suspect that Azerbaijan is closely cooperating with its regional adversary, Israel.
Tehran accuses Tel Aviv of seeking to approach Iran's borders through Azerbaijan, taking advantage of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and fueling conflict in relations between Baku and Tehran.
