VIDEO: Your Level of Awareness Needs Improvement - Ararat Mirzoyan to Mamijanyan

A long time has passed since I heard any representative of the executive speak about the occupation of Armenian territories in Artsakh on an international platform. This was stated by member of the National Assembly from the 'I Have Honor' faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, during the Q&A session with the Government.

'Moreover, some members of your faction insist that it's absolutely unnecessary to talk about this. Who said that we should talk about the de-occupation of Armenian territories? There is absolutely no discussion of any revanchism; the conversation is about protecting our homeland's interests on international platforms and raising the issue that part of our homeland is occupied by the enemy. Is there anyone in your government who is willing, at least initially, to assert from this podium that part of our homeland is occupied?' he asked.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan responded to the question. 'The discussions regarding the territories that were part of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region and are now under Azerbaijani control are ongoing; they are on the agenda, and we address them on various platforms. But I believe you will agree that continuously shouting about this won't create favorable conditions for seriously discussing the resolution of the issue. On the contrary, it may generate new dangers for the Armenian people,' he said.

In response to the answer, Hayk Mamijanyan noted that he somewhat agrees with Ararat Mirzoyan's viewpoint. 'I am convinced that Armenia must present the fact that part of our homeland is occupied. Our speeches on international platforms are quite toothless, and there are significantly audacious internal political ones directed against us. It would be good if the speeches written for Nikol Pashinyan’s internal political discourse and the speeches written for international discourse swapped places,' said Hayk Mamijanyan.

In response, Ararat Mirzoyan remarked, 'Your level of awareness needs improvement. I hope you will remove this question from your agenda. You may disagree. I bear significant responsibility in the context of my words and their interconnectedness with the current situation, therefore I cannot formulate certain things.'
