Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Solutions for Regional Issues
During talks in Moscow, the Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers discussed the "3+3" cooperation format among other issues. This was reported by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
What is the "3+3 format"? The initiative proposes the creation of a regional cooperation mechanism involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Iran, and Turkey.
"We discussed the initiative to create a '3+3' format today. Our Iranian friends have a positive attitude towards it, and we see the same attitude in Azerbaijan and Turkey. We are working with our Armenian partners as well," he stated.
According to him, the Russian side hopes that Georgia, despite its challenges, will recognize its vested interest in establishing such a mechanism.
