Serzh Sargsyan on the Probability of New War

"I am confident that in any case there will be a very acceptable option for us, or a little acceptable option. This was stated by the 3rd President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, in response to the question of what will happen when Azerbaijan is threatening while Armenia seeks peace."

"When we say we do not want war, it doesn’t mean that when they come to slaughter us, we should say ‘well, go ahead, please slaughter these 2, but don’t touch those 3.’ That is not war; when you are defending yourself, when you cut off the hand raised against your people, I am confident that if the need arises, we will all be ready for it," he said.

However, Serzh Sargsyan considers the probability of a new war to be low: "I do not believe that the likelihood of the next war is high, especially in the visible future. Maybe something could change, maybe I am wrong, but that is my opinion. But what is happening today does not resemble peace at all, yet those problems should not discourage us in any case. We will fight, and if necessary, if there is no other way, what else can we do? We will choose different forms of struggle."
