Two Opposition Representatives Stabbed During Campaign in Georgia
During a pre-election campaign for local self-government elections in the village of Gantiadi, located in the Dmanisi district of Georgia, two representatives of the opposition "United National Movement" party were stabbed. The injured individuals have been taken to a hospital. Reports indicate that there are additional victims as well.
The assailant has been arrested. According to Imedi TV, the individual is the son of Mikheil Dautashvili, who was nominated by the "Georgian Dream" party in Dmanisi. The 28-year-old David Dautashvili is facing charges under two articles of the Georgian Criminal Code: "intentional infliction of serious bodily harm" and "violence." The accused faces a prison sentence of 3 to 6 years.
It should be noted that local self-government elections in Georgia are scheduled to take place on October 2.
