Defense Ministry: Improvement of Building Conditions Not Only Is Not Happening, But Is Also Not Planned
In response to the article by "168 Hours" titled "1 Billion 75 Million Drams for Better Conditions in the Defense Ministry Building, Not for Positions," in which it is claimed that "Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan has deemed the improvement of the Ministry of Defense's building conditions urgent and not, say, the furnishing of un-equipped positions, and therefore a project requiring 1 billion 75 million drams (1,075,322.7 thousand drams) has been submitted for the Government's approval for the purpose of working in better building conditions," we state that the mentioned information does not correspond to reality.
The media outlet quotes only the title of a spending article, under which, however, there are several lines primarily relating to capital acquisitions, specifically the purchase of weapons and equipment. In other words, the outlet's assertion not only does not correspond to reality, but, in fact, the diametrically opposite is happening: the defense ministry is reducing several expenses, reallocating the budget, and using those funds for purchases aimed at strengthening the army's combat readiness.
The improvement of building conditions at the Ministry of Defense is not only not happening; it is also not planned. Once again, we urge not to publish unverified information that harms the reputation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
