Video: One of the Negative Aspects of This War was the Chaos Created in Armenia, Lack of Legality – Ohanyan

It is evident to all of us that a fairly complex geopolitical situation has arisen in our region. We all understand that Armenia and Artsakh were in a different scenario in terms of security and economic development, but now a different situation has been created in the geographical context.

There is a need to take preventive and counteracting measures in the security system of Artsakh and Armenia. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, a member of the 'Armenia' parliamentary faction and former Minister of Defense, during a session in the National Assembly.

“We should not say that the war hindered the commission from working fully, but rather the effectiveness of the commission's work should be evaluated precisely in the wartime situation, in being able to work quickly and carry out appropriate oversight. We need to see, since one of the negative aspects of this war was the chaos created in Armenia, the chaos and lack of legality,” Ohanyan said.

Referring to the harsh criticisms from the opposition, Ohanyan noted that radical opposition and tough criticisms are now necessary because there is no point for self-criticism, and some people lack a sense of guilt. “These days we often hear, ‘he performed his work excellently.’ Was your work excellent? Was it excellent that all negotiation resources were squandered? Was it excellent that we worsened our relations with our strategic ally? Of course, it was not excellent. After all this, we can only say that our strategic positions were excellently handed over to the Azerbaijanis,” Ohanyan stated.

Commenting on the changes taking place in the Armed Forces, the former Minister of Defense noted that they have disrupted the relations between the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. “You politicized the position of the Chief of the General Staff, overly accelerated the rejuvenation of the military command, and during your time there was the bulking of the central apparatus of the Armed Forces, relevant oversight was not conducted regarding mobilization resources,” Ohanyan said, addressing the members of the Civil Contract party.
