Arsen Avakov, of Armenian Descent, Resigns from Position as Head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs
The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, who is of Armenian descent, has confirmed that he has submitted his resignation. This information was stated in a message published on the ministry's website.
“In accordance with Article 18, Part 1 of the Law of Ukraine on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, I have submitted a resignation request from the position of Minister of Internal Affairs,” Avakov announced.
Avakov also expressed gratitude to the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their “joint work.” The reasons for Avakov's resignation have not been disclosed.
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the Verkhovna Rada would discuss the issue of the dismissal of Minister Arsen Avakov on July 15.
