Tigran Avinyan as Yerevan Mayor: Who Will Hold What Position?
According to information from the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, intense discussions are ongoing within the government regarding who will take on various positions.
According to our sources, there has been a discussion within the authority about preparing Vice Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan for the position of Yerevan Mayor, with current Chief of Staff Arsen Torosyan likely to take his place. Torosyan is making every effort to position himself in Avinyan’s role and is working to gain the trust of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The new head of the government’s staff is expected to be Araik Harutyunyan, the former Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, and currently an advisor to the Prime Minister. Incidentally, according to circulating information within the government, Pashinyan’s preferred candidate for mayor is Khachatur Sukiasyan, who is also very eager to assume this position.
These matters are being hotly debated among representatives of the government; however, according to our information, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remains silent, has not promised anyone any position, and has not made any clear statements. Pashinyan is holding consultations with extra-parliamentary forces and has not yet met with his team.
