The Road Connecting Armenia to Georgia and Russia Could End up in Azerbaijani Territory, Political Expert Edgar Elbakyan
If the border demarcation in the Tavush region is carried out based on the last issued maps by the Soviet Union's General Staff, the border will shift southwest from the east. This was stated by Edgar Elbakyan, co-founder of the Armenian Project educational NGO, during a conversation with journalists in Tavush.
“If we compare the so-called GPS maps with today’s front lines, we will see that in many places our frontline is further east than in the case of the Soviet maps. Overall, the road that connects Armenia to Georgia and Russia, about 2.5 km long, could directly end up in Azerbaijani territory,” he said.
Edgar Elbakyan also presented the Gomadzor Church located in the Voskepar area to reporters. “All those delusions that there are Azerbaijani territories in Armenia could very smoothly ‘be shattered’ against the eternal stones of Gomadzor. There are no Azerbaijani territories here,” he emphasized.
It is worth reminding that today representatives of the media visited the Tavush region at the initiative of the Armenian Project educational NGO. The Armenaia Today reporting team is also in Tavush.
