Gnel Sanosyan on the Events at the Gegharkunik Border
The Governor of Gegharkunik, Gnel Sanosyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "On May 12, the opposing side carried out border adjustment work in the Vardenis region, guided by the November 9, 2020 agreement, in areas where it had not been able to do so due to adverse weather conditions. These works continued in the same areas on May 13. However, in the second half of the day, Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to ensure positional advancement in certain sections of the Vardenis border under the pretext of 'border adjustments.' According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, the advancement was halted due to the actions of the Armenian armed forces, and a demand was presented to the Azerbaijani side to leave the area immediately and return to their initial positions."
