Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Withdraw Troops from the Border

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have completed the process of withdrawing their military units from the border. This was reported by TASS, referencing sources from the Kyrgyz side.

The withdrawal specifically pertains to the additional forces and resources that had been concentrated at the border during recent clashes.

It is noteworthy that the announcement about troop withdrawal was made by both sides on May 1.

For decades, a dispute over the ownership of a watershed point has persisted between the two neighbors. The state borders of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan run alongside this watershed point, which has been used for irrigation and water supply for the border regions of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as for the third neighboring country, Uzbekistan, since 1968.
