Serzh Sargsyan Discusses All Details with Vanetsyan: 'Hayastani Kaghakard'
According to the daily newspaper 'Hayastani Kaghakard', the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) decided yesterday to participate in the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20, despite various RPA factions ruling out entering elections under Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's leadership.
How did the closed session of the RPA's executive body unfold? Information from 'Hayastani Kaghakard' suggests that throughout the nearly entire session, RPA leader Serzh Sargsyan spoke. Attendees got the impression that Sargsyan came to the meeting having already made a decision.
Sargsyan stated that they would participate in the upcoming National Assembly snap elections alongside the 'Hayrenik' party, mentioning that he has already discussed all details with the future coalition partner's leader, Artur Vanetsyan. An agreement has been made that prominent members of the RPA will be on the coalition's list.
Sargsyan noted that the RPA would be making a mistake by going to the elections alone, asserting that joining with Vanetsyan is the correct option.
We have also learned that RPA figures will begin working on garnering votes starting today. This includes former RPA members of parliament such as Arkadi Hambardzumyan (Dzhervazhay's Arkadi), Arayik Grigoryan (Avshar's Arayik), and Arakel Movsisyan (Shmays), along with all those who have brought votes for the RPA in past elections.
According to our information, there has been a significant increase in morale within the RPA following Sargsyan's decision, as chances of returning to the National Assembly are being perceived. By the way, many had been told that Serzh Sargsyan did not intend to participate in the elections or be on the list.
