Interesting Developments May Occur if the U.S. Flag is Lowered and the Turkish Flag is Raised, Karen Hovhannisyan
Military expert Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page:
The Incirlik airbase in Turkey's Adana province has once again become a tool for Turkey's intimidation. According to my information, discussions are currently taking place behind the scenes in Turkey, particularly within the military and presidential circles, regarding the issue of lowering the U.S. flag at this airbase. According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, the Incirlik military complex belongs to the Turkish Air Forces. Turkey is currently exploring ways to oust the U.S. from this military base. Specifically, they are advancing the thesis that certain operations at the 'Incirlik' base were carried out under a Defense and Economic Cooperation Agreement signed between Turkey and the United States on March 29, 1980. The agreement contains a provision stating that 'the government of the Republic of Turkey allows the government of the United States to participate in joint defense measures at the facilities of the Turkish Armed Forces located in Incirlik.' The key word here is ALLOW. According to some sources, Turkey intends to declare that all resources at Incirlik belong to Turkey, as Incirlik is Turkish and part of the Turkish Armed Forces' air force. Interestingly, significant developments may occur if the U.S. flag is indeed lowered and the Turkish flag is raised.
