Putin is Very Displeased with Serge Sargsyan: 'Hraparak'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: 'At this stage, the attitude of the Russian authorities towards Armenian political forces and, in particular, the upcoming elections is very noteworthy. The political landscape in Armenia has always been 'corrected' in accordance with the Russian authorities, and many politicians have traveled to Moscow in search of 'approval'. After the recent war, Armenia has not only not become a province of Russia, but has fundamentally found itself in its sphere of influence.
How do the Russian authorities view the current and former administrations, and which political forces do they “see” at the helm? They have outwardly left the field open with the motto 'fight, and we will work with whoever wins.' However, among the former presidents, their preferred choice is Robert Kocharyan. In contrast, their attitude towards Serge Sargsyan is very negative, and this sentiment dates back to 2018. The matter is that prior to his resignation on April 23, 2018, Sargsyan not only did not ask for support but did not even inform Vladimir Putin that he was planning to take such a step.
His unexpected resignation was seen by Putin as a personal insult, as he believed that, as a partner, the third president of Armenia should have at least called to inform him that he wanted to proceed with such a decision. This is the reason why, since 2018, there has been no communication with Serge Sargsyan and the Republican Party.'
