Independent MP: "Aliyev's Thoughts Should Be Taken Very Seriously and Vigilance is Necessary"
Geopolitically, there is significant interest in Syunik, and the issue of the corridor is on the table. Even if the main topic of negotiations is not this, but rather discussions about unblocking, it is important to understand that Turkey's aggressive policy in the region will force them to attempt to impose their will, and our political authorities must have sufficient willpower to prevent this in any way. Ultimately, this could lead to the end of the Republic of Armenia and, in general, statehood.
This was stated by independent MP Anna Grigoryan during an interview with AD TV entitled "Interview." She emphasized, "We see that Turkey has no neighboring country with which it does not have problems. In this context, Aliyev's statement about returning to our historical homeland—Zangezur—resonates. On one hand, Aliyev speaks of strengthening peace in the region and fostering good neighborly relations, while on the other, he makes claims against our territorial integrity. I do not believe that we should not take Aliyev's statements seriously. Aliyev's thoughts should be taken very seriously and it is necessary to remain vigilant."
Commenting on the positions of neighboring countries, she noted that Iran is perhaps the only state in the region that has declared that the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia is its "red line." "This at least allows us to hope that, if not favorable developments for Armenia occur, Iran will be involved in our favor. Regarding Russia, they will attempt to ensure that Azerbaijan becomes a member of the EAEU, while at the same time, according to the November 9 statement, it is stated that Russia should control the route connecting Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. Therefore, there are also Russian interests at play here. We must be flexible enough to understand which direction we should take," she concluded.
