Turkey Responds to Biden's Statement
Ankara completely rejects U.S. President Joe Biden's statement in which he recognized the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. This was announced on Saturday by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
“Words cannot change or rewrite history. We have nothing to learn from anyone about our past. Political opportunism is the greatest betrayal of peace and justice. We fully reject that statement, which is based solely on populism,” the foreign minister wrote on his Twitter account.
It is reminded that on April 24, U.S. President Joe Biden, in a message to the Armenian people, officially recognized the Armenian Genocide for the first time among U.S. presidents.
