Kiev to Take Action in Response to Arrest of Ukraine's Consul in Russia
Ukraine considers the detention of its consul in Saint Petersburg a hostile act by the Russian Federation and is preparing retaliatory measures against Russian diplomats. This was announced by Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin, according to the RIA Novosti agency.
Yenin called the incident another "provocation" against Ukraine, stating, "In accordance with current practice and based on the principle of reciprocity, the Ukrainian side is preparing a response against Russian diplomats."
Earlier, Tert.am reported that the Russian Federal Security Service had detained Ukraine's Chief Consul in Saint Petersburg for allegedly obtaining classified information from law enforcement and FSB databases.
