Heritage Party Leader Edmon Marukyan Comments on Republican Party's Decision Not to Nominate Karen Karapetyan
Heritage Party leader Edmon Marukyan has addressed the statement made by Armenia's third president Serzh Sargsyan, claiming that he handed power to Karen Karapetyan, not Nikol Pashinyan. The post states:
“As a member of the 6th convocation of the National Assembly, I recall that the 'Republican' faction did not nominate Karen Karapetyan for the position of Prime Minister and did not vote for Nikol Pashinyan on May 1. In the parliamentary elections of May 8, 2018, the 'Republican' again did not nominate Karen Karapetyan for the position of Prime Minister; instead, with the votes of a group of Republican faction members along with those from 'Tsarukyan', 'Yelq', and 'ARF' factions, Nikol Pashinyan was elected Prime Minister. Thus, power in Armenia was transferred to Nikol Pashinyan,” Marukyan wrote.
