No Driver Lost Driving Privileges Last Year
During the year 2020, no decisions were made to impose penalty points on 673,416 individuals who are authorized to drive. This information was provided by the Public Relations and Media Department of the Police of Armenia in response to a query from the 'Fact' newspaper. At the same time, the police state that this number may change, as there are still unresolved cases related to violations committed in 2020 that have not yet been notified, entered into force, or become unappealable.
'Fact' newspaper reports that, nonetheless, it is a fact that more than 670,000 drivers did not commit any traffic violations in 2020 that would entail the removal of penalty points, or at least did not commit violations within zones monitored by speed cameras and recording devices. Meanwhile, the Police of Armenia report that no driver has lost their driving privileges due to the application of penalty points; however, the driving rights of 2,175 individuals have been suspended for 6 months on the basis of exceeding the threshold of 9 penalty points.
