Court Rejects Motion to Dismiss Prosecutors in Kocharian Case
The Yerevan City Court, presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan, today rejected the motion filed by the defense of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian.
During the court session on January 19, the defense presented a motion to dismiss prosecutors Petros Petrosyan, Gevorg Baghdasaryan, and Chief Prosecutor Artur Davtyan, claiming that the prosecuting attorneys exhibited bias.
Recall that the second president of Armenia is facing charges related to the events of March 1, 2008. A case was initiated against him following the change of power in Armenia in 2018. Robert Kocharian has been detained three times and has spent a total of 500 days in custody. In June 2020, the Court of Appeals decided to release him on bail. He is currently at liberty.
