Discussion on Armenian Prisoners and Hostages with Sergei Shoigu
On January 20, Armenian Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan had a phone conversation with the Russian Minister of Defense, Army General Sergei Shoigu. The defense ministers of the two countries discussed ongoing issues related to bilateral cooperation in the defense sector, the operational situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the return of prisoners and hostages, as well as various issues related to the search for missing persons.
The Armenian defense minister expressed gratitude to his counterpart for the effective functioning of the peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as for the significant support provided by the Russian border guards deployed in Armenia's Syunik Province in addressing security challenges.
The two defense ministers also exchanged views on recent geopolitical developments in the region.
