Human Rights Defenders of Artsakh and Armenia Release Urgent Report on Targeting of Journalists by Azerbaijan
The Human Rights Defenders of Artsakh and Armenia have published a joint urgent report regarding Azerbaijani attacks on journalists covering military operations in Artsakh. Alongside the targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure in Artsakh, journalists and their accompanying vehicles have also faced deliberate and indiscriminate targeting, resulting in the serious injury of 7 journalists (5 foreign and 2 Armenian) and the death of one accompanying individual from a journalistic team.
The deliberate targeting is evidenced by the fact that the journalists were wearing special clothing and identifiable markings, which were also present on their vehicles. Furthermore, some testimonies indicate that Azerbaijani reconnaissance drones flew over the locations before and during the incidents, suggesting that the journalists were fully visible and identifiable to the Azerbaijani armed forces.
