Torosyan Discusses Joint Production of Medicines and Medical Devices with Iranian Ambassador

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, met with Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, and Seyyed Reza Nourai, an expert in economic issues at the embassy. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

Appreciating the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the parties made new proposals regarding activities in the healthcare sector of Armenia and Iran. It is noteworthy that the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided humanitarian aid to Armenia in the fight against the new coronavirus pandemic.

“We highly appreciate the direct communication with our Iranian partners and are grateful for the assistance provided in this difficult situation. I am confident that our friendly relations will continue in the future, especially after overcoming the pandemic situation caused by the coronavirus disease,” said Arsen Torosyan.

An agreement was reached to organize video conferences for the exchange of experience between representatives of the ministries of health of Armenia and Iran, as well as doctors and healthcare personnel, regarding the treatment protocols for the pandemic. The discussion also included the issue of starting joint production of medicines and medical devices.

The ambassador noted that despite the conditions created in respective countries, the healthcare sector should continue to operate. He expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation in this sector and hoped that the joint fight against the coronavirus disease would enable the countries to overcome the pandemic.

“Considering the cultural ties between our two countries, I am confident that our relations will further develop. A strong and wealthy Armenia is a pride for its neighboring country; therefore, we want Armenia to achieve great success and develop its healthcare sector to its peak through cooperation. I hope we will achieve tangible results in the next 5-6 months of cooperation,” said Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
