Relatives Join Search Efforts for the Missing
For nearly a week now, relatives of missing servicemen have been allowed to participate in search and rescue operations in areas under Azerbaijani control during military operations. This was informed by Hunan Tadevosyan, an officer of the Public Relations Department of the Artsakh Ministry of Emergency Situations, in a conversation with Armenpress.
“The participation of the relatives of the missing soldiers has been made possible through the mediation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and negotiations with Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Currently, two parents from each family can join the search and rescue teams and assist them in the areas of military operations,” Tadevosyan elaborated.
According to him, search and rescue operations are currently being carried out in the directions of Fizuli and Jabrail. “Today, two teams are working in the directions of Fizuli and Jabrail. Yesterday, the bodies of 20 fallen servicemen were found in Jabrail, and one in the Talish area. At this moment, there is no area of military operations where the search and rescue work has been completely finalized. Therefore, search efforts will continue in all areas. The progress is largely determined by relevant negotiations with the Azerbaijani side through the ICRC and Russian peacekeepers,” Tadevosyan noted. He added that from November 13 until today, a total of 802 bodies have been found. So far, only one surviving Armenian and one Azerbaijani soldier have been found in the Shushi area,” Tadevosyan stated.
