Russia Bans Imports of Tomatoes and Peppers from Armenia's Armavir Region
Starting December 14, "Rosselkhoznadzor" has imposed a ban on the import of tomatoes and peppers from Armenia's Armavir region. According to RIA Novosti, this decision was made following the discovery of products contaminated with the pepino mosaic virus.
"Rosselkhoznadzor believes it necessary to prohibit the entry of tomatoes and peppers produced or exported from Armenia's Armavir region into Russia from December 14, 2020, in order to prevent the spread of the pepino mosaic virus within the Russian Federation. Vegetables infected with the virus have previously been imported from this region," the statement reads.
It is also noted that Russia has temporarily banned the import of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan.
