Medications in High Demand Have Increased in Price: 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that there has been a price increase for medications that are in high demand in Armenian pharmacies and are essential for people's health. The price increase for each pill has amounted to 15-20 drams.
'Zhoghovurd' learned that in almost all pharmacies of the Republic of Armenia, necessary medications (vascular, cardiovascular, and antihypertensive medications) have been sold at higher prices for several days now. For example, a box of 'Cardio Magnil' has risen from 2100 drams to 2300 drams. Meanwhile, one tablet of 'Tripliksam' has gone up from 235 drams to 250 drams, and the price of 'Concor' 5mg has increased by 2 drams, from 58 drams to 60 drams. The price of one tablet of 'Prestance' (5/5) has gone from 150 drams to 165 drams, while the same medication in a 10/10 dosage has increased from 200 drams to 207 drams.
According to some pharmacy workers, the reason for the price hikes is the rise in the exchange rates of the dollar and the euro, as most medications are imported. It must be acknowledged that the increase in prices of these medications is a cause for concern, and in this regard, the authorities, particularly the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, should not remain idle.
Moreover, since the companies that dominate the pharmaceutical market are under the watch of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia, we hope that the rise in medication prices will not escape their notice.
