Will a Military Figure Replace Hunan Poghosyan in Syunik? Ongoing Discussions
The newspaper "Joghourt" reports that on November 30, Hunan Poghosyan, the governor of Syunik, submitted his resignation. He was officially relieved of his duties on December 4 by a government decree. Following this decision, a remarkable situation has emerged, as authorities have yet to determine who will be appointed as his successor.
Additionally, it should be noted that almost all major leaders of communities in Syunik have issued statements demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in light of this situation. According to our information, serious discussions are currently taking place involving various officials in the region, with some even opting to decline the offer for the position. However, the people of Syunik believe that a military figure should be appointed as governor who can manage the situation until it becomes clearer what the future will hold.
In other words, there is a decision to trust this position to a military individual. As is well-known, after the announcement on November 9, many communities in Syunik have become border communities, with some areas having Armenian villages situated very close to the border—just 500-600 meters away.
