Police Discover Large Quantities of Weapons and Ammunition in Recent Days

The Police of the Republic of Armenia has reported the discovery of a significant amount of weapons and ammunition through preventive measures carried out at fixed checkpoints in various towns and along highways across the republic. Over the past few days alone, dozens of automatic rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, various types of grenades with fuses, several thousand cartridges of different calibers, optical and thermal imaging devices, communication equipment, and military gear have been seized.

This information was provided by the Public Relations and Media Department of the RA Police. For a considerable time, police units have been undertaking various measures on a round-the-clock basis to prevent and uncover crimes, including illegal possession and transportation of weapons and ammunition.

“As part of the preventive measures, fixed checkpoints have been established in various locations and along highways throughout the republic, and appropriate inspections are being conducted. It is due to these measures that several dozen automatic rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, dozens of different types of grenades with fuses, several thousand cartridges of different calibers, optical and thermal imaging devices, communication equipment, and military gear, among others, have been discovered in recent days. The police will continue to carry out similar measures with the same diligence around the clock. We urge individuals to voluntarily surrender any weapons and ammunition illegally brought from Artsakh to the police to avoid criminal liability,” the statement concluded.
