Who is Kamo Kochunts, Awarded the Military Rank of Lieutenant General
Yesterday, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, numerous awards were presented. Interestingly, among the recipients was Kamo Kochunts, who held a position during the events of March 1, 2008.
Firstly, it should be noted that based on the Prime Minister's proposal and in accordance with part 2 of Article 133 of the Constitution, as well as part 1 of Article 16 of the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen, Major General Kamo Grigori Kochunts, Deputy Head of the Military Supervisory Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, was awarded the military rank of Lieutenant General.
So, who is he? Kamo Kochunts was the first deputy commander of the Yerevan garrison in 2008. Subsequently, after the revolution, he was appointed on September 7, 2018, as the first deputy chief military inspector by the order of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
It is noteworthy that according to data from the Special Investigative Service, a management system for the Yerevan garrison was created by involving the army in political processes based on the well-known Order 0038. This order was issued by then-Minister of Defense Mikael Harutyunyan.
