First-Ever Massive Sandstorm Recorded in Ankara

Turkologist and Kurdish studies expert Karen Hovhannisyan posted on his Facebook page: “Today at noon, a sandstorm occurred in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. It is being reported that such an event has never happened in this region’s history. The Turkish meteorological service had predicted heavy rain and wind for Ankara today, but not a sandstorm.”

According to official sources, six people were injured as a result of the storm, which also caused widespread panic.
