Another Person Dies from Alcohol Poisoning, Death Toll Reaches 21

From August 31 to September 12, Armenia reported 46 cases of alcohol poisoning (methanol), with 21 resulting in death, while 25 individuals have been discharged after treatment, as reported by the Ministry of Health's Facebook page.

To prevent unfortunate incidents, the Ministry of Health urges the public to refrain from using alcoholic beverages of unknown origin and non-factory production.

Reminder: Symptoms of acute poisoning from ethyl alcohol include agitation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, lethargy, diplopia, poor concentration, imbalance, drowsiness, ataxia, coma, seizures, respiratory distress, low blood pressure, bradycardia, decreased body temperature, and hypoglycemia.

In the case of methyl alcohol, depending on the amount of toxic substances, poisoning symptoms may appear within a few hours to 1-2 days. The primary symptoms include dizziness and headache, nausea and vomiting, muscle, joint, and abdominal pain, mental clouding, drowsiness, photophobia, specific effects on vision—up to blindness, increased levels of hemoglobin and erythrocytes in the blood, and the presence of proteins and hyaline casts in the urine.

In case of the aforementioned symptoms, it is essential to seek medical attention immediately and avoid self-treatment.
