Lebanese Authorities Identify Cause of Beirut Port Fire Today

The caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Lebanon, Michel Najjar, announced that the cause of today’s explosion at the Beirut port could be linked to the use of a grinder during renovation work, as reported by bc.com.

The agency notes that preliminary data suggest that sparks from an electrical device might have triggered the outbreak of the fire. Najjar emphasized that an investigation will commence immediately after the firefighters complete their work.
