WHO Chief Calls on International Community to Prepare for New Pandemic
The new coronavirus pandemic is neither the first nor, unfortunately, the last, stated World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“This is not the last pandemic. History teaches us that outbreaks of diseases and pandemics are, in effect, part of life. When the next pandemic comes, the world must be better prepared than this time,” the WHO chief noted, as reported by TASS news agency.
According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic “offers many lessons for everyone.” “One of them is that health is not a luxury for those who can afford it, but a necessity and a human right,” Ghebreyesus emphasized.
