Video: Pickpocketing Cases Uncovered in Minibuses

On September 2 and 3, thanks to the professional work of officers from the 6th subdivision of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, three cases of pickpocketing were uncovered. The thefts occurred in the Shengavit administrative area.

On August 29, around 3 PM, a woman's wallet containing cash, two mobile phones, and bank cards was stolen from her bag on Bagratuniats Street. A criminal case was initiated, and the Shengavit Police Department began search operations.

Officers from the pickpocketing unit of the Criminal Investigation Department soon joined the investigation and received information that the theft might have been committed by a 38-year-old resident of Martuni city. On September 2, around 2 PM, the suspect was apprehended from the first mass of Nor Nork and confessed to the crime.

The other incident occurred on August 31, around 9:30 PM, when the Shengavit Police Department received a report from the operational management center that about an hour earlier, a woman’s wallet, containing 67,000 drams, had been stolen in a minibus of route 25.

After relevant measures, the officers of the 6th subdivision of the Criminal Investigation Department identified that the theft might have been committed by a 60-year-old resident of Abovyan city. On September 3, the suspect was apprehended from Myasnikyan Avenue.

No report was received regarding the third case. The specialized unit personnel independently investigated and on September 3, around 7:30 PM, apprehended a 46-year-old woman from Buzand Street on suspicion of theft on Garen Njdeh Avenue. It was found that she stole a passenger's wallet containing cash, identification, bank, and savings cards earlier that same day in a minibus of route 50. The stolen items were discovered and confiscated. A report was taken from the victim, and materials are being prepared regarding the incidents.
