Fake Invoice Used to Import Motor Oils into Armenia, Says State Revenue Committee

The State Revenue Committee's investigation and operational intelligence division recently uncovered another case of crimes against economic security. According to operational data, a large quantity of motor oil was being imported into the Republic of Armenia by a freight truck from a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union, specifically from the Russian Federation, through the inclusion of false information in the tax documents.

To verify the received information, the employees of the Revenue Committee's investigation and operational intelligence division undertook extensive operational measures. During this process, a freight truck of the 'DAF' brand, operated by an individual identified as A.P., entered the territory of the Bagratashen customs checkpoint of the Revenue Committee's eastern customs administration. The driver presented a fake invoice for the goods in order to obtain the necessary clearances.

According to the fraudulent invoice, the product supposedly purchased in the Russian Federation and being transported to Armenia was sunflower hydrophos. Operational staff conducted an inspection of the vehicle and its cargo, revealing over 6,000 liters of motor oil types 'SINTEC', 'GAZPROMNEFT', 'ROSNEFT', and 'ROLF' hidden under bags of wheat bran.

In connection with the apparent crime, a criminal case has been initiated within the Revenue Committee according to the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The 'DAF' truck has been subjected to a search. The freight truck and the goods have been confiscated. Investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to determine the extent of the damage caused to the state and to identify the individuals involved in the criminal chain.

Note: The suspect or accused of the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, through a legally effective court judgment.
