Officials of the RA State Revenue Committee Arrested

Officials of the RA State Revenue Committee have been arrested. This was reported by the RA Special Investigation Service, noting that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Within the framework of the criminal case being investigated by the RA Special Investigation Service, employees of the RA State Revenue Committee V. A., H. M., and A. T. have been arrested on suspicion of committing acts as stipulated in Articles 308, Parts 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code, as well as Article 38-308, Parts 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code.

According to the factual data obtained in the criminal case, during January-February 2020, V. A., who held the position of head of the Bagratashen Customs Checkpoint Division of the Eastern Customs Administration of the RA State Revenue Committee, and H. M., who held the position of customs inspector in the same division, with the assistance of the division's scale attendant, used their official positions contrary to the interests of service and failed to fulfill their official duties. Specifically, on January 17, 2020, they allowed drivers of cargo vehicles loaded with 1150 tons of oil to enter the territory of the RA through the Bagratashen customs checkpoint without submitting a customs declaration for the mentioned cargo. As a result, the cargo owner did not pay taxes, duties, and other mandatory payments to the state budget in the particularly large amount of 16,034,356 AMD.

Additionally, according to the data obtained during the investigation, the aforementioned officials of the customs service allowed the transportation of 680 tons of oil into the territory of the RA on January 25 and 29, and again on March 1, 2020, in the same manner, without customs declaration. As a result, the cargo owner failed to pay a total of 28,397,753 AMD in taxes, duties, and other mandatory payments to the state budget.
