Healthcare Worker Dies from Coronavirus in Gyumri
In the Shirak province, 39 deaths have been recorded due to coronavirus. The most recent fatality was a junior healthcare worker born in 1960. He passed away in the capital, marking the first instance of a healthcare worker from Shirak province succumbing to the virus.
Leila Aslanyan, deputy head of the Healthcare and Social Security Department of the Shirak Provincial Administration, shared this information in an interview with Aravot.am. The source of the infection was not the workplace, as no cases of transmission have been recorded there. The healthcare worker began feeling unwell, was tested, transferred to the capital, and subsequently died, having had pre-existing health conditions.
According to sources, he worked at the Gyumri Mental Health Center, where there have been no cases of infection reported. Employees at this facility are required to be tested before entering work.
It is worth noting that today, the number of coronavirus cases at the Gyumri Infectious Disease Hospital has increased by three, reaching a total of 41. The number of citizens under home quarantine has also risen to 517, with 101 of them testing positive and exhibiting asymptomatic cases of the disease.
